Funeral services for Charles David Kimbrough, Pomona, Mo., were Wednesday, May 13, 2009 in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Charles David Kimbrough, son of the late John Lamb Kimbrough and Marie Jolliff Kimbrough, was born Jan. 24, 1949, and entered into eternal rest May 10, 2009, at the family home at the age of 60. Charles was born in Peace Valley, Mo. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and a graduate of Southwest Missouri State University. On April 6, 1974, he was united in marriage at West Plains, Mo., to Brenda Ann Murrell. Charles worked as a Shelter Insurance Agent in Licking, Mo., and was also the vice president of Mercantile Bank in Willow Springs, Mo., before becoming a partner at Gullic-Squires Insurance Agency in West Plains, Mo. He was a deacon and faithful member of Pilgrim's Rest Primitive Baptist Church in Peace Valley. Charles was also active in a variety of community service activities including the Sunrise Rotary Club of West Plains. Charles was an avid reader and a humorist who always appreciated a good joke. He enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, farming and riding his motorcycle. Charles loved to spend time with his family and would often request family and friends to join in while he played his guitar and sang. He also loved to travel, always enjoying the adventure of a road trip with the family. Charles is survived by his wife, Brenda Murrell Kimbrough, of the home, Pomona, Mo.; one son, Adam David Kimbrough and wife, Jennifer, of Lamar, Mo.; two daughters, Megan Elizabeth Spence and husband, Marty, of Willow Springs, Mo., and Briton Ashley Cartner and husband, Jonathan, of Warsaw, Mo.; two granddaughters, Emma Kaye and Kathryn Elizabeth Spence of Willow Springs, Mo.; one brother, James Kimbrough and wife, Karen, one sister, Susan Jones, all of Peace Valley, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he dearly loved. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Lamb Kimbrough and Marie Jolliff Kimbrough; two brothers, John Lamb Kimbrough Jr. and Duke Hosea Kimbrough, and one sister, Betty Lou Kimbrough. Charles was a beloved husband, father, brother, granddad, uncle, cousin and friend. His charm and character will be missed by all who knew him. Burial was at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Howell County Relay For Life or Pilgrim's Rest Primitive Baptist Church and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. [Howell County News, May 20, 2009]
