Funeral services for Melvin Eugene Judd, 68, West Plains will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 1996, at the Faith Assembly of God Church under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, West Plains.
Mr. Judd died Sunday, Sept. 22, 1996, from injuries he suffered in a motor vehicle accident on east U.S. 160 near West Plains. He was born April 1, 1928, at Peace Valley, the son of Ogle Thorpe and Olive Marie Bay Judd.
He received his education at the Oak Ridge School. He was a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Army. He was owner and operator of Judd's Insulation and Home Improvement, and he loved to fish. He was of the Pentecostal faith with his membership in the Junction Hill Pentecostal Church. His devotion was to help church congregations and ministry to expand and improve their churches and houses.
Survivors include his wife Mable, of the family home: two children, the Rev. Danny Judd and wife, Sharon, West Plains, and Brenda Howell and husband, the Rev. Fred Howell, Caulfield; five grandchildren, Danna Judd, Devin Judd, Dustin Judd, Brian Howell and Derek Howell; one brother, Len Judd and wife, Elsie, Willow Springs; five sisters, Lela Gilbert, Dollie Wadlow and husband, James, and Carolyn Lunn, all of West Plains, June Ford and husband, David, peace Valley, Joyce Gualandi, Sublette, Ill; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lon Judd; and a grandson, Jeremy Howell.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
The body will lie in state from 1 p.m. Wednesday until 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Gideon Bibles and left at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Howell Park Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Military honors will be provided by American Legions Posts 284 and 23, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1828 and AmVets Post 98. [West Plains Daily Quill, Sep 23, 1996]
