Freda M. (White) Spears, 84, Lee's Summit, was born in Texas County, Mo., on December 3, 1925. She passed away in Lee's Summit on January 19, 2010. Freda worked for Shawnee Mission Hospital from 1968 to 1988.
On May 21, 1949, she was united in marriage to Jack Spears in Grace Baptist Church. She loved to play all types of games, cards and dominos. She loved her family, life at John Knox, and KU basketball.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Spears; sister Gloria White; brothers, Cecil and Gary White; and mother and father, Jim and Oldie White.
She is survived by her daughter, Sue and son-in-law, Steve Lawrence; son Sam and daughter-in-law, Marsha Spears; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother Jack and sister-in-law, Joan White; sister-in-law Pauline White; and nephews, Danny, Bobby and Marc White and their wives.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, January 23, 2010, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m., in Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home, Cabool. Burial will follow in Cabool Cemetery.
