Oliver N. Hood Funeral services for Oliver N. Hood were held Sunday, March 2, 1969 at the Duncan Funeral Home in Mountain View, with Rev. Robert Colbert officiating. Mr. Hood was born January 31, 1880, at Hutton Valley, Mo., and died at the age of 89 years. He was married to Flora Ogle in 1905 at Pomona, Mo. To this union was born three sons: Milford P. Hood, deceased; Clyde Hood of Madras, Oregon; and Ralph Hood of Hutton Valley. His wife preceded him in death in July of 1968. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Ollie Hood was a life-long resident of the Hutton Valley neighborhood. It was in February of last year (1968), almost exactly a year ago, that Mr. & Mrs. Hood came to the Hatton home. Her health was very poor and he had found it impossible to care for her and maintain their home. At the Hatton home he continued to give her the most devoted care until her death last July. Mr. Hood was remarkably ablebodied, capable and alert for a man of 89. He had continued to manage his own business matters and to visit friends and relatives unitl the car accident on Sunday (the 23rd) which resulted in his death three days later (26 Feb 1969). He was a very pleasant person, to visit. He once told me that at one time his wife's father was offered the 40 acres of land on which the West Plains Square now stands in exchange for a horse. But at the Hatton home his great interest was in the song services on the TV. He regularly listened to the church services each Sunday morning. Out sincere sympathy is with his sons, Ralph, of Hutton Valley, and Clyde, who was summoned from Madras, Oregon, his nephew, Harold Gulley, and all other relatives and friends.
Interment was in Howell Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of Duncan Funeral Home of Mountain View.
Memorial sesrvices for Mrs. Flora E. Hood, Hutton Valley, Missouri, were held at the Duncan Funeral Home in Mtn. View Thursday, July 25, 1968, at 2 o'clock, with Rev. Robert Colbert officiating.
She was born October 17, 1884, at Hutton Valley and married Oliver N. Hood at Pomona, in 1905. To this union was born 3 sons, one of which preceded her in death, Milford P. Hood. Two other sons are Clyde O. Hood of Madras, Oregon, and Ralph I. Hood of Hutton Valley.
Other survivors are one sister, Jessie Bolerjack of California and one brother, Charley Ogle of St. Louis. One brother and 5 sisters preceded her in death. She had 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
