He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. He was a self-employed poultry farmer for 37 years. He also owned and operated Pineville Litter Co., Hill Top Pallet Co., Lancer Roofing Corp. and B&B Metal Products. He was an accomplished pool player.
