Albert Coleman Threet, 82, of Steele, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006 at the Pemiscot Memorial Nursing Home in Hayti.
Born Nov. 3, 1923 in Prattsville, Ark., he was the son of the late Henry Vernon Threet and Ardilla Nichols Threet.
Coleman was united in marriage to Dixie Haynes in 1973 in Florence, Ala.
He graduated from Steele High School, was committeeman and member of the Lions Club.
He served in the United States Army in World War II as a radar operator. He served in Hawaii, Saipan, and Iwo Jima. He was awarded two Bronze Stars and a Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. Threet leaves his wife, Dixie Threet, of Steele; One son, Don Threet, of Marion, Ark.; Three daughters: Debbie Sanders of Steele and Denise Letner and Diana Arnold, both of Marion; Seven grandchildren: Ross Letner, Chase Roland Letner, Brooke Sanders Love, Trent Sanders, Scott Threet, Alex Threet and Brittany Barr; and Three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Threet were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Steele with Rev. Joe Smith officiating.
Burial was at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with military honors and Powell Funeral Home of Steele in charge of services.
Pallbearers were Ross Letner, Chase Roland Letner, Trent Sanders, Scott Threet, Alex Threet and P.J. Glass.
