James Edward Clifton, 75, of Steele died Monday, June 6, 2011 in Steele.
Born April 11, 1936 in McDonald, Ohio., he is the son of the late Robert W. Clifton and Carrie B. Wells Clifton. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Fred and Richard Clifton; and two sisters, Marjorie Jerina and Iris Hendrix.
James was united in marriage to Myma Jackson on Oct. 13, 1959 in Memphis, Tenn. She preceded him in death.
He retired having served his country in the United States Navy. He served during the Vietnam war and received a Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Meritorious Unit Commendation.
Mr. Clifton leaves two sons: James E. Clifton Jr. of Cloud Croft, N. Mex. and Cliff Clifton of Alma, Ark.; Three daughters: Terry Timbs of Millington, Tenn., Jamie Proctor of Bartlett, Tenn. and Becky Jernigan of Paragould, Ark.; Two sisters: Mildred Young of Brandon, Fla. and Carol Frantz of Temple Terrace, Fla.; and Ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services for Mr. Clifton were held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 10 at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with Mr. Tim Howard officiating.

Myrna Loy Clifton, 70, of Steele, died Monday, November 10, 2008 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Born September 28, 1938 in Rives, she is the daughter of the late Clifford Jackson and Iva Mae Marshall Jackson.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Jackson and P.K. Jackson, and two sisters, Jolene Carney and Dana Ball.

Myrna was united in marriage to James Edward Clifton Sr. on October 13, 1959 in Memphis. She graduated from Steele High School in 1956 and Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1959. She was employed as a Registered Nurse at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems. She was a member of the Samford Church of Christ.

Mrs. Clifton leaves her husband, James Edward Clifton Sr. of the home; two sons: James E. Clifton Jr. of Portageville and Cliff Clifton of Alma, Ark.; three daughters: Terry Timbs of Millington, Tenn., Jamie Proctor of Arlington, Tenn. and Becky Jernigan of Paragould, Ark.;
One brother, Alan Jackson, of Holland; and ten grandchildren.
