Funeral services for Robert Fulton Acklin, 84, West Plains, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 1990, in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, West Plains, with the Rev. Joe Bean officiating.
Mr. Acklin died at 12:52 a.m. today, Dec. 19, 1990, in Ozarks Medical Center. He was born April 24, 1906, in Douglas County, the son of Thomas Henry and Ida Mary Greenway Acklin.
He received his education at the Galloway School at West Plains. On May 2, 1930, he was married to Oma Coble who preceded him in death Feb. 14, 1951. On March 13, 1957, he was married at West Plains to Bertha Marie (Hall) Nolte.
Mr. Acklin was the first groundskeeper at the West Plains Country Club. He was a carpenter and before his retirement had been employed with the street department for the city of West Plains.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Acklin, West Plains; seven children, Donald Acklin; Helen Stanley and husband Dick; June Johnston, all of West Plains; Robert Acklin and wife Connie, Hawaii; Judy Acklin, Nevada; Ronald Acklin and wife Marsha, Sedalia; and Danny Acklin and wife Hazel, West Plains; three step children, Laura McVickers and husband Will, Summersville; Paul, Vienna; and J. D. Nolte, Oran; 18 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Fancher, Estacada, Ore.; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, two great grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters.
Burial will be in Howell Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, West Plains.
