Graveside services for Cecil Leroy Thornton, 85, West Plains, will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010, at the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Mr. Thornton died at 7:29 p.m., Friday, Aug. 13, 2010, at Ozarks Medical Center. He was born Jan. 8, 1925, at Augusta, KS, to Roy James and Gladys Stone Thornton. On July 2, 1949, he was married at Salem, AR, to Marcella Hardcastle. Mr. Thornton was owner and operator of a sawmill. He was a member of the Church of God.
He is survived by his wife, Marcella Thornton, of the family home; two daughters, Kay Thornton and Janet Thornton, both of Prairie Village, KS; and one sister, Flora Mae Luna, of Dora, MO.
His parents and one brother, Clyde Thornton, precede him in death.
