Saturday when crews first responded to the one-car crash on Farm Road 132, about four miles east of Springfield.
Driver James Gangwes, 18, and passengers Zachary Whittet, 17; James Robinson, 16; and Young Kim, 17, were all pronounced dead at the scene.
Gangwes and Whittet were Kickapoo students. Kim and Robinson attended Glendale.
Zachary Eugene Whittet, age 17, of Springfield, Mo., was taken from us and brought to the Lord Saturday, January 5, 2008, following a fatal car wreck. Zach was born June 17, 1990 in Springfield, MO, the son of Greg Whittet and JoLeAnn (Pauley) Whittet.
Zach was full of life everyday, and believed in living life to the fullest. He was "Our thrill seeker", and loved being at the lake with his family and friends. Zach had many passions in life, wakeboarding being at the top of the list. As well as any other board under his feet; skateboarding, longboarding and his newest snowboarding. He loved movies and good food (fast food). He was a natural when it came to playing the guitar, learning how to play without lessons. Zach enjoyed taking pictures and had a great eye for art and drawing. He most loved to be in shorts, T-shirts and flip flops.
He is survived by his parents Greg and JoLeAnn Whittet of the home, his sister, Natasha Whittet, maternal grandparents, Bazel and Lorene Pauley of Lake Ozark, MO and paternal grandparents Gene and Nita Whittet of Gainette, ID, many other relatives and many many friends.
Arrangements are being handled by Walnut Lawn Funeral Home LTD, 2001 W. Walnut Lawn St., Springfield, Mo., where there will be a prayer service at 6:00 PM Thursday, January 10, 2008 with visitation to follow. Funeral Mass will be at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Church at 10:00 AM Friday, January 11, 2008 . Interment will be at Maple Park Cemetery in Springfield, Mo.
