Loren Levi Marcum, Sr., son of Sam and Violet Wood Marcum, was born February 17, 1936, in Des Moines, Iowa. He departed this life Tuesday, February 1, 2005, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty-eight years, eleven months, and fourteen days.
He was united in marriage to Lorene Collins, and to this union two daughters and one son were born.
His parents, and a brother, Carl Marcum, preceded him in death.
Loren is survived by two daughters, JoAnn Logan, and Sherry Marcum, both of Springfield, Missouri; a son, Loren Marcum, Jr., of Springfield, Missouri; two granddaughters, Rochelle Logan and Genea Marcum; two grandsons, Nick and Levi Marcum; his significant other, Jean, of the home; four brothers, Kenneth Marcum, of Springfield, Missouri, George and Alvin Marcum, both of Pomano, Missouri, and Frank Marcum, of the State of Oklahoma; four sisters, Margaret Butler, and Ruth Crites, both of West Plains, Missouri, Delores Mayfield, of the State of Louisiana, and Rosie Hunzman, of the State of Illinois; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was an ordained Deacon of the Glad Hill Church, was founder of the Mansfield Jamboree, and was a former better businessman. He had worked as the manager of an auto parts store.
Loren was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2005, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Mansfield. Burial will be in the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery, West Plains. Visitation will be Friday evening from 7 - 8:00 p.m.,under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield, Missouri.
