Andrew Jackson McKinney, son of David and Isabella McKinney, was born March 9, 1865, at Houston, Missouri, and departed this life January 12, 1949, at Burge Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.
He was united in marriage March 2, 1898, to Ollie Fleming. To this union were born five children: Madrine, who preceded him in death; Mrs. Hal H. Stephens, Washburn, Mo.; Mrs. T. A. Nelson and Lynn McKinney, Springfield, Mo.; Dr. J. F. McKinney, Norfolk, Va.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson; three sisters, Mrs. Nancy Godfrey, Parsons, Kansas; Mrs. Ida Wheeler, Mountain Grove, Mo.; Mrs. Chell Shepherd, Bartlesville, Okla.; one brother, Jake L. McKinney, Jefferson City, Mo.; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
He was converted and united with the Cabool Baptist Church in 1913. In which church he was active until 1945, when he moved to Springfield, Mo. and moved his membership to the East Avenue Baptist Church.
As a young man he taught school in Texas County for several years and later became interested in politics and served one term as Sheriff of Texas County. He served as Postmaster of Cabool for four years. He established a real estate and insurance business in which he was active until retirement in 1945, at which time he and his wife moved to Springfield, Mo.
He was a member of the Cabool Masonic Lodge, which attended services in a body.
Pallbearers were also from Barnes Lodge No. 116. They were Elvin Dickey, Pac Byrd, Louis Jones, Everett Whetstine, Loren Spears, and Norman Brewer.
Honorary pallbearers were M. E. Pettigrew, Chas. Headings, Dr. J. M. Coats, W. O. Frederick, T. C. Cunningham and William Harmon.
Music was in charge of Mrs. Curtis Tindel. Mrs. Charles Foster sang, "Beyond the Sunset" , and a male quartet was composed of John Wainwright, Curtis Tindel, Walter and David Beeler.
Services were conducted at the First Baptist Church Sunday, January 16, by Rev. Orville Haines and Rev. Earl French, under the direction of Elliott Funeral Services. Burial was in the Cabool Cemetery.
