Dr. Jerry Russell Chapman, Steele physician, died December 18, 1967 at Chickasawba Hospital in Blytheville.

Dr. Chapman was born October 11, 1905 in Johns, Miss. He was married to the former Marjorie Grigsby. Dr. Chapman practiced medicine in Steele for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Methodist church.

Funeral services were held December 20, 1967 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Steele, Rev. Charles Miller and Rev. James F. McCrary officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery with John W. German Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Chapman leaves his wife, Mrs. J.R. Chapman, of Steele; a son, Capt. Jerry R. Chapman, II of Augusta, Ga., and a daughter, Gay Lynn Chapman of Houston, Miss.

He leaves two brothers: Clifton Chapman of Delhi, La., and Dr. C.C. Chapman of Memphis, Tenn.; and four sisters, Mrs. Emma McKenzie, of Memphis; Mrs. Margaret Davis, of Dallas, Texas, and Mrs. Eugene Upton of Delphi, La.

Pallbearers were Clarence Poteet, Clarence McCollum, Ralph Wafler, Tommy German, T.A. Haggard and Marshall Cameron.
