Luther J. Thomlinson

Luther J. Thomlinson, 83, Springfield, died at 10:57 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, 1996, in St. John's Regional Health Center after a short illness.

He was born May 31, 1912, in Granby, the son of Thomas J. and Ida Elizabeth Thomlinson. He was a deacon and active member of Webster Park Baptist Church, Springfield. He was a retired construction superintendent and a member of Carpenters' Local No. 978. He was married to Edith Faye Wheeler Jan. 11, 1936. She preceded him in death May 7, 1991.

He is survived by two sons, Gerald W., Hermitage, and Joseph D., Overland Park, Kan.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; a brother, Harry, Stark City; and three sisters, Mary Emma Bass, Lenexa, Kan., Jewell Clark, Grand Junction, Colo., and Louise Brown, Redding, Calif.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 1996, in Greenlawn Funeral Home North with the Revs. Jim Melton and Bruce McNealy officiating. Burial will be in Newtonia Cemetery, Newton County.

Friends may call at their convenience after noon today in the funeral home where the formal visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today.

Memorial contributions may be made to Webster Park Baptist Church Building Fund in memory of Luther Thomlinson.
