MRS. MARY A. MELVIN, AGED 89, DIES HERE
Aged Woman Succumbed at Her Home on N. Main Street Today.
Mrs. Mary A. Melvin, 89 years old, died at her home on North Main street about 1 p.m. today, following an illness attributed to general debilities of advanced years. She was the widow of George W. Melvin, who died on Aug. 4, 1925.
Funeral services are to be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 at the Davis & Wilson Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Ralph M.G. Smith, pastor of the First Baptist Church. Burial will be made in Forest Cemetery.
Mrs. Melvin had been a resident here almost continuously since her childhood. She was born in Illinois, Feb. 27, 1845, and married Mr. Melvin in 1873. She was a sister of the late George England and "Bud" England.
Her only surviving relative here is a sister-in-law, Mrs. George England, and family.
