Travis Edward Nelson, 58, died early Sunday morning at the Walls Hospital in Blytheville after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Nelson was born in Jackson, Tenn., but had lived in this city for 46 years. He lost his eyesight in childhood. He and his wife, Pearl, who is also blind, won the respect of people here for their ability to lead a normal life without help even though they were handicapped.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church in Steele Monday afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. Bill Cook officiating, assisted by Rev. James F. McCrary.

Interment was in the Holly Cemetery with the German Funeral Home in charge.

Pallbearers were Clarence, Hobart, and Bert Poteet, Harold Cooperman, Wade Hollenbeck and Jack Brooks.

Surviving are his wife, Pearl Nelson, of Steele; two brothers, Robert and J.D. Nelson, and a sister, Mrs. Louise Cain, all of Blytheville.
