Carl Volkl

Carl E. Volkl, 76, of Monett, died at 8:50 a.m. yesterday, August 2, at Lacoba Nursing Home in Monett.

Mr. Volkl was born December 3, 1923, in St. Louis, the son of Jocob and Rose Hagedorn Volkl. He was a self-employed dozer operator and excavating contractor. He was a member of Ozarks Post 65 Pierce City American Legion and attended St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Monett. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He moved to the Monett-Pierce City area 73 years ago.

He married Ella Dean Peterson on December 21, 1973, in Missouri, and she survives.

Additional survivors include two sons, Charles Volkl of Wentworth and Joseph Volkl of Denver, Colorado; two daughters, Ann Davidson of Pleasant Hope and Mary Robertson of Republic; one step-daughter, Linda Enlow of Aurora; three step-sons, Stanley Holle of Cassville, Larry Holle of Monett, and Rick Holle of Mt. Vernon; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 5, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Monett with Father John Braun officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Pierce City under the direction of Lakin Funeral Home of Pierce City.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. tomorrow, August 4, at the funeral home with rosary to follow.

Memorials may be made to Hospice or St. Lawrence Catholic Church.

Carl Volkl

Services for Carl E. Volkl, 76, of Monett, who died August 2, were held at 11:30 a.m. August 5 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Monett with Father John Braun officiating.

Reader was Peggy Dargan. Servers were Natalie Dargan and Andrew Dargan.

Music was provided by the congregation which sang Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art, Song Of Farewell, and Prayer Of St. Francis. Organist was Joan McNerney.

Casketbearers were Charles Volkl, Joseph Volkl, Donald Volkl, Stanley Holle, Rick Holle, and Mike Blinzler.

Burial was in St. Mary Cemetery's in Pierce City under the direction of Lakin Funeral Home of Pierce City.

NOTE: Ella Dean Peterson Volkl, died April 6, 2007 and is buried in Spring River Cemetery near Verona.
