GW "Doc" Denniston, moved to Adair County from New Bethleham, PA around 1875. He was the proprietor of Denniston Agricultural Implements just north of the Kirksville square during the 1890s but moved to Neosho, MO in the early years of the 20th Century. Doc and his wife Mary, who died before he left Kirksville, are buried in the city's Forest-Llewellyn Cemetery.
