Clarence Smothers, former Steele resident who had made his home in St. Louis for a number of years, died in St. Louis at the age of 68.
Service was held Monday, June 16, 1980, at 2:00 p.m. at Cottonwood Baptist Church. Rev. David McCoy officiated, with burial at Mt. Zion.
Mr. Smothers leaves two daughters: Mrs. Mag Howard of St. Louis and Mrs. Evelyne Middleton of Caruthersville, Route 1; He leaves a son, Paul Smothers of Immokalee, Fla., and he leaves 12 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Joe Ricketts, Johnny Linsman, Jackie Middleton, Max Thompson, Jeff Gibson, and James Carl Baker.
German-Aumon Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
