Mr. Richard "Rick" H. Cooper, 41, of Rt. 1, Steele, Mo., died Sunday, August 3, 1997, at Holland, Mo., resulting from an automobile accident.
Born Monday, August 22, 1955 in Blytheville, Ark., he was a son of Frances (Harrell) Cooper and the late Paul H. Cooper.
On November 18, 1978, Mr. Cooper was united in marriage with Karen Watson Cooper.
A member of the Samford church of Christ, he also served as a deacon there.
Mr. Cooper was a former mayor of Cooter, Mo., a past member of Rotary, as well as a past board member for the Pemiscot County Special School District.
He was the owner and operator of South Pemiscot Oil Company in Steele, Mo.
Mr. Cooper leaves his wife, Karen Watson Cooper, of Steele, Mo.;
His mother, Frances Harrell Cooper of Cooter, Mo.;
One son, Luke Cooper, of the home;
One daughter, Rachel Cooper, of the home; and
Two sisters: Lois Cooper Freeman of Jonesboro, Ark., and Jeanine England of Decaturville, Tenn.
Funeral services for Mr. Cooper were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, 1997, at the South Pemiscot Multi-purpose Gym, with Mr. Barry Sellers officiating and Mr. Dewayne Kennedy assisting.
Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele, Mo., with Bradshaw Funeral Home in charge.
Pallbearers were Steve Worrell, Bobby Ketchum, David Daniels, Jimmy Green, James "Bo" Raulerson, Isaac McKay and Howard Henry.
Honorary pallbearers were John Smith, Chub Morgan, Carl Avis, Ed Aumon, Marvin Childers, Polkie Flood, William Biggs, Gary Johns, Gene Samford, and Gary Bruton.
