Lewis A WILLARD

Forest-Llewellyn Cemetery
Adair County,
Missouri

Oct 3, 1838 - Feb 18, 1893
DIED.

At the family residence in our city on the 18th inst, Lewis A. Willard, one of the best known men in the county, and highly respected as a citizen, friend and business man. He had resided here over 33 years, having been one of the leading business men of this place for about 24 years. His illness was of many months continuance and very painful, but was borne without a murmur.

Brother Willard was born in Broad Run, Fredrick county, Md., Oct., 3d, 1838, where he grew into manhood. He was very quiet and kind hearted, but had clear and strong convictions of moral right and privilege. In his family he was devoted as a husband and father, and an ample provider. His widow and two children have the tender sympathy of many friends. In 1882 Brother Willard united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church of this city and soon thereafter was elected and installed a railing [sic] elder in both of which relations he was beloved and trusted by his church. He died in great peace, aged 54 years, 4 months and 15 days. His funeral was conducted by his pastor, and he was buried by the Knights Templar of which he was a member.

"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints."
