Forest-Llewellyn Cemetery
Adair County,
Missouri

1863 - 1924

Mrs. F.M. Halladay died Tuesday afternoon at the Laughlin Hospital of heart trouble following an attack of the flu, complicated with pneumonia aged 60 years. Mrs. Halladay was born in Lewis County April 16, 1863. Her parents moved to Kirksville where she resided with them until her marriage to Dr. Halladay, when they moved to Galesburg, Ill., where Dr. Halladay practiced osteopathy for several years and had a very large practice. After retiring from professional life he returned to Kirksville and the family made their home on his large and highly improved farm near East Center. Here the hospitality of the Halladay home became proverbial and was the center of interest in developing school, church and community. Mrs. Halladay was one of the best known women in the county and her death will be deeply mourned by her large circle of friends. She is survived by four sons, Dr. Herschel Halladay of Galesburg, Ill.; Dr. John Halladay of Kirksville; Charles Halladay of Chillicothe, Ill.; Fred D. Halladay, a student at the ATSCOS, and two step daughters, Mrs. R.D. Tracy of Flint, Mich., and Bertha Halladay, of Kirksville. There are also four sisters [only three are listed], Mrs. A.L. Roberts of Vinita, Okla.; Miss Martha Brown of Los Angeles, Calif., and Dr. Laura Belle Givens of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and brothers, Dr. E.M. Brown of Galesburg, Ill., and Dr. J.W. Brown of Bethany, Nebraska. The funeral was held at the Baptist church Thursday afternoon at 2:30. The services were conducted by her pastor, the Rev. C.F. Acres. Interment in Forest cemetery.
