Captain W. D. Sigler was born at Greencastle, Ind., September 3, 1836, and died at Kirksville, MO., September 16, 1905. He had three brothers and five sisters. Three of the sisters and two of the brothers are still living. February 23, 1865, he was married to Mary C. Kutzner, who died May 10, 1903. To this union nine children were born. Of these, seven are still living. September 29, 1904, he married Mrs. Mary M. Powell, who survives him.

Captain Sigler enlisted in Company C. of the 30th Iowa, in defense of his country and lost an arm in Vicksburg.

He was a good citizen, always interested in the welfare of the community; a good husband and father, loving his home and family with unstinted devotion; and a good Christian - a faithful and zealous member of the M. E. Church. He will be greatly missed by the community which deeply sympathizes with his bereaved ones.

Obituary.

Mary C. Sigler was born at Sunbury, Pa., on Sept. 5, 1846, and died at her home in our city on Sabbath morning, May 10, 1903.

She was united in marriage to Capt. William D. Sigler, on Feb. 23, 1865. Nine children blessed this home; two of whom have preceded her to the Heavenland and seven remain to deeply deplore her death: Addie P. Purmont, of Enid Oklahoma; William D. Sigler Jr., D.O., of Salem, Ohio; Nettie Wilcox, D.O., of Plainfield, New Jersey; Byrdie S. Cary, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Anna G. Staff, of Meadville, Pa.; Chas. Mac Sigler, D.O., of Dunkirk, N.Y., and Vane B. Sigler.

This was a happy home where love was always enthroned. Sister Sigler possessed a happy nature, enriched by the grace of God; her sunlit face imparted good cheer to all around her. To her husband always a delightful companion; to her children ever the most tender and thoughtful of mothers. She was of patriotic spirit, her father having been a distinguished Colonel in the Union Army; she loved the land of her birthright. She was a member of the Women's Relief Corps, at one time being its president.

Her ancestors were members of the Presbyterian church; but early in her life she expressed a desire to unite with the M.E. Church, which she did. She loved the church of God and attended its services regularly; she honored her Savior and exhibited in her deeds of charity and self-sacrifice, the beauties of the Christian life.

A few months ago she was taken seriously ill and battled bravely with disease. She had a strong desire to live, so happy was her life, but after all the skill of the healing professions were exhausted, her life slowly waned away. "Stealing away like the stars of the morning; Losing their light in their glorious sun."

On the Holy Sabbath of the 10th of May, as the sanctuaries of our city were being filled with worshippers, her spirit entered the most Holy Sanctuary of God--the city of gold--to be a loving worshipper there forever and ever. At her home, her casket embowered in flowers amid those she most tenderly loved, the funeral services were held conducted by the pastor of the M.E. Church, Rev. R.L. Thompson. The interment was at the Forest cemetery at Kirksville, Mo.
