George Leroy Sims, 86, of Hannibal, Missouri died at 4:33 PM Monday, May 30, 2011 at Willow Care Center in Hannibal.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2011 at Riverview Nazarene Church in Hannibal.

Burial with full military rites by Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post # 55 will be at Fairview Cemetery in Frankford, Missouri.

The James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Sims was born on January 7, 1925 to Albert S. and Alma Mann Sims in Oakwood, MO.

He was previously married to Opal Bentley and Dorothy McMilan, who predeceased him. Mr. Sims later married V. Carlene Sigler. She survives.

Survivors include two daughters, Eva Maria Croskey of the state of California and Georgia Sims of Columbia, MO; one brother, Nelson Robert Sims; four sisters, Rosie Sparks, Ethel Vincent, Carolyn Schwanke, and Darlene Beshears; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Sims is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Bertha Bloodgood, and Patricia Stone, and 1 brother, Harold Sims.

Mr. Sims retired from the Rock Island Arsenal. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Force. He loved being outdoors and especially like to fish, camp, and travel. Mr. Sims had spent the past 31 winters in Port Isabell, Texas fishing and enjoying the outdoors. He attended the Riverview Church of the Nazarene.
