Obituary.

The Rev. A.H. Ketrow was born in Maryland, March 15, 1827 and died at his home in Kirksville on Feb. 19, 1904, aged 76 years and 29 days. At an early age he removed to near Springfield, Ohio, where he was united in marriage with Euretta Harris, who survives him. For fifty years they have journeyed side by side through life in devoted companionship.

During the Civil war he heard the call of his country and for nearly four years he was at the front, doing a soldier's duty, the history of which he is proud.

For a number of years he was chaplain of the Kirksville Grand Army Post, and felt greatly honored by the confidence his comrades placed in him.

He was also an honored minister of the Methodist Episcopal church. He entered the Missouri Annual conference of the M.E. church in the year 1870 and for a number of years he was very successful. On nearly every circuit souls were converted and he had some marked revivals. He had a passion for soul winning. Some years ago, owing to impaired health he received the superanuated [sic] relation in his conference. Since then he has lived in Kirksville.

He did not fear death, but patiently waited the call of the Master. The day before he died he did the chores around the household as usual. On the morning of the 17th he was not feeling well, but no one anticipated he was so soon to leave this world. Before eventide he was in the Heaven-land.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. R.L. Thompson at the home. At the grave the impressive service of the G.A.R. ritual was observed. The interment was at Forest cemetery.
