Andrew Lee Griggs, 22, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away following an automobile accident, Thursday (June 10, 2010) near Hurdland, Missouri.
The son of David Wesley and Betty Ann (Stonecipher) Griggs, he was born January 14, 1988 in Bakersfield, California.
Andrew is survived by his mother, Betty Maybee of Bakersfield, CA; his grandparents, Chester Griggs of San Bernardino, CA, Connie Griggs of Kirksville, MO, and Robert and Charlene Stonecipher of Bakersfield, CA; one sister, Tiffany Griggs of Kirksville, MO; several half siblings; several cousins and his fiancé, Melissa Songer of Kirksville, MO.
He was preceded in death by his father and two sisters in infancy.
Andrew was raised by his grandmother Connie most of his life. He was a graduate from Kirksville High School and attended one year at Moberly Junior College. While in high school, Andrew was active in K-Life.
Andrew's health permitted him from enlisting into the National Guard.
His hobbies included video games, cartoons, swimming, playing pool, music and riding his bicycle.
Andrew had a kind heart and never met a stranger.
He was a member of the Salvation Army Church of Kirksville.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Travis-Noe Funeral Home and services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday (June 15, 2010) at the Salvation Army Church, 1004 W. Gardner in Kirksville, with Major Bill Hogg presiding. Family will receive friends one hour before service time at the church.
Interment will follow the service at Forest-Llewellyn Cemetery in Kirksville.
Pallbearers will be; Danny Barns, John Ireland, James Peterson, Larry Ellis, David Potter and John Crocitti.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Andrew Griggs Memorial Fund. Memorials may be left during the service at Salvation Army Church or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO 63501.
