Services Held for Alan Buckingham, 8 Years of Age
The Rev. Edgar L. Knight conducted the funeral services Saturday afternoon at 1:30 for Alan Peterson Buckingham, 8-year-old son of J. D. and Lena Buckingham who died at his home, 716 S. Davis, Thursday evening at 6:30 o'clock. The boy had been ill only a few days with measles, but Thursday grew suddenly worse when his condition turned into pneumonia. Burial was in Forest cemetery.
Alan was born in Berkeley, Calif., Dec. 7, 1929 and returned to Kirksville with his parents soon afterwards. He was a pupil in the third grade of Greenwood and was active in school work.
Besides his parents, he is survived by a younger brother, Edward, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Peterson, Browning Route 1; Mrs. Florence Buckingham, 911 E. Orchard St., Kirksville and others. Mrs. A. L. Holt, an aunt, of St. Louis, who has been here since Friday, expects to return home today.
