Veron first married Dorothy Sizemore. 2nd, Helen Louise Madows on 4 July 1953 in Quincy, Illinois.
Vernon was the son of Jonathan Charles Lewis and Mable Clifton.
Vernon was schooled in Davenport, Iowa and later moved to Clinton, Ia where he worked for the foundry. In 1969 he moved to Kirksville, Mo and worked for J. Burdman Auto Parts as a truck driver until 1977. In 1980 he moved to Clinton, Ia where he worked for Central Steel Tube until his health failed. He later moved back to Kirksville til his passing in 1995. He had 5 children, all of whom lived in Kirksville, 2 of them are also deceased.
