Marion Edwin Dains, 59, died early Sunday morning. Mr. Dains lives about 3 miles northeast of Kirksville.

Funeral services will be held at the Dee Riley Funeral Home, Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., conducted by Rev. Ralph H. Hicks, pastor of the First Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Maple Hills Cemetery.

Mr. Dains was the son of Edward and Clara Scofield Dains, and was born in Adair county on October 19, 1897. He was first married to Opal Minnick, in 1905 [sic] and to this marriage three children were born. Mrs. Dains preceded him in death in 1935. Later, on January 5, 1940, he was married to Marguerite Adkins, at Macon, Mo.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Eddie Dains[,] Ottumwa, Ia.; and Robert Dains, Davenport, Ia.; two step-children, Mrs. Eugene Hatfield, Valley, Neb., and Dale Ely, Kansas City, Mo.; five grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.

Mr. Dains was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter; one brother; and one sister.

He was a member of the Methodist Church; Adair Lodge No. 366, A.F. & A.M., of Kirksville.

For several years Mr. Dains was employed at the Shoe Factory in Kirksville.

Fraternal Rites will be conducted by Adair Lodge No. 366, A.F. & A.M.

Bearers will be Earnest Scofield, Howard Penn, Lloyd Cory, Frank Marks, William Fortney and H.B. Young.
