William Cyrus Couch, 81, of 507 E. Illinois, died at 5:35 this morning in a Kirksville hospital where he had been a patient only one day. He had been in failing health three years.

Born Feb. 24, 1890 in Schuyler county, he was the son of Joseph Perry and Nancy Kathryn Anders Couch. On April 27, 1950 in Memphis, he married Jettie B. Calef who survives. Also surviving are an adopted son, Louis Couch of Odessa, Tex.; three grandchildren, two step-daughters, Mrs. George Longwith and Mrs. W. Marvin Sangster, both of Kirksville; three step-grandchildren and one brother, Albert Couch of Baring.

He was preceded in death by four brothers.

Mr. Couch was long resident of this area and had been a barber and an auctioneer before his retirement.

He was a member of the Christian Church at Memphis.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at two o'clock in the Funeral Chapel of Davis and Davis. The Rev. William F. Davison, pastor of the First Christian Church of Kirksville will conduct the services. Burial will be in Maple Hills cemetery.

Bearers will be: Bert Garrett, Lee Cupp, Dorsey Thompson, Raymond Flinchpaugh, Bill Sangster and Robert Longwith.
