John A. Elmore, 82, died at 5:30 yesterday morning in a Kirksville hospital where he had been a patient since January 10th.
He was the son of John S. and Nancy Tweedell Elmore and was born Nov. 28, 1873 on a farm south of Gibbs. On January 29, 1893 he was married to Elizabeth Winn. No children were born to them. The couple would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this month.
A retired employee of the Santa Fe railroad, Mr. Elmore had resided in Gibbs the past 38 years.
Surviving other than his widow, are one brother, Emry Elmore, Sunland, Calif., and a number of nephews and nieces. five sisters and one brother precede him in death.
He was a charter member of the Christian Church in Gibbs and a member of the Hurdland IOOF lodge.
The Funeral will be Monday as 2 p.m. from the Gibbs Christian Church conducted by the Rev Hollis Bowen and the Rev. Eldon Drennon with burial in the Maple Hill cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Gregg, james Garlock, Vic Thompson, Charles Taylor.
The body will remain at the Easley Funeral Home in Brashear until time for service.

JOHN A ELMORE was born in Wilson Township, Adair County Missouri; November 28, 1873, being a son of John S and Nancy Elmore. He was married January 29, 1893, to Annie E Winn, daughter of Uzad and Polly Ann Winn. They have no children. Mr. Elmore owns a farm of eighty acres, situated five and three fourths miles northeast of La Plata and three miles south of Gibbs. He does general farming and stock raising. He is a Democrat in politics, a member of the Christian church, and belongs to the K. of P. lodge at La Plata.
