EDWARD P. AUSMUS
---After having lived on the same farm for the past fifty-six years, Edward P. Ausmus died at his home three-fourths miles east of Sue City Saturday morning. He had been ill several days.
---Edward P. Ausmus was born in Illinois April 17, 1839 and died February 15, 1936, at this farm home east of Sue City, Missouri, being at the time of his death, ninety-six years, nine months and twenty-eight days.
---Interment was made at New Harmony cemetery February 16 with the Masonic Lodge of La Plata in charge.
---Mr. Ausmus was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Phillip Ausmus. He was united in marriage to Mary J. Walker December 31, 1874. To this union was born three children, a daughter who died in infancy, Charles E. who preceded him in death December 31, 1935 and Miss Etta of the home. He had lived at his farm home for the past fifty-six years.
---He was the last member of a family of eight children.
---He was a Civil War veteran, also a member of the Masonic Lodge and had the distinction of being a member of the Masonic Order longer than any other Mason in the county at the present time.
---In early manhood he became a member of the Christian Church and he lived worthily, thus commanding the respect of all who knew him.
---Mr. Ausmus was a man of sterling worth and character, devoted to his home, his family and friends. In his work and business transactions he was punctual but never exacting. He was honest and considerate and always ready to help those who were trying to help themselves.
---Thus the life of a good man is ended and his relatives and friends mourn his passing.
