Derald Alan Ficken, 61, was born Jan. 18, 1944 at St. Ansgar, IA, the son of Albert and Marcella Elsie Norman Ficken. He died Nov. 17, 2005, at his home near Birch Tree, MO.
He graduated high school on May 21, 1963.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
He was a man who never met a stranger, and was always willing to give a helping hand. He loved hunting, fishing and his dogs. He taught everyone how to love and laugh at his practical jokes.
Derald's grandchildren meant the world to him. He will be missed by all.
Survivors include his wife, Daisy Louise Ficken of Birch Tree, MO; a son, Daniel Craig Ficken and wife, Valerie, of Alton, MO; a daughter, Kristine Amanda Wrinkles and husband, Jeff, of West Plains, MO; a step-son, Vance Allen Sisco and wife, Tammy, of Alton; and a god-daughter, Rebecca Lynn Brewer of West Plains; four brothers, Dennis Ficken and wife, Sandy of Columbia, MO; Kenny Ficken and wife, Pat of Springfield; Max Ficken and wife, Bertha, of West Plains; and Jimmy Ficken and wife, Jody of West Plains; two sisters, Colleen Justus and husband, John, of West Plains, and Carolyn Upton of Alabama; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by hs parents; grandparents and his former wife, Gail Ann Ficken.
The funeral service was Nov. 21 at Yarber Chapel in Mountain View, MO, with Gary Clemens officiating. Interment was in Howell Memorial Park Cemetery in Pomona, MO. Arrangements were by Yarber Mortuary of Mountain View. [Southern Missourian News, Dec 1, 2005]
