Doris Mae Hickerson was born January 20, 1933 at Monmouth, IL the daughter of Reece Everett Crandall and Edith Grace (Stone) Crandall. She passed away January 27, 2014 at her residence in Hutton Valley, MO at the age of 81 years.
Doris was united in marriage to James Norman Hickerson on July 4, 1950 at Las Vegas, NV and to this union three children were born.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents Reece and Edith Crandall; three brothers Donald Crandall, Jack Crandall, and Wayne Crandall and two sisters Shirley Squires and "Bet" Carraway.
Doris is survived by two sons Dan Hickerson and wife Sue of Kennan, WI and Ron Hickerson and wife Lynn of Kennan, WI; one daughter Debbie Pitts and husband Scott of Willow Springs, MO; seven grandchildren Chad Pitts and wife Amanda, Casey Pitts and wife Misty, Kenny Hickerson and wife Heather, Tracy Frieze and husband Donnie, Wilbur Hickerson and wife Rebecca, Matthew Hickerson and wife Jenna, and Joe Hickerson; great-grandchildren Josh, Jake and Jared Frieze, Kelsey and Luke Pitts, Hayden and Molly Pitts, Aaron Grace, Loralie and Piper Hickerson, Adrian and Preston Hickerson and Olivia Hickerson; many nieces and nephews, her special card playing friends, also her good friend Ester whom they spent many hours making cards and drawing flowers, and a host of other family and friends.
Doris was known by all her friends and family as Dode. Whether inside or outside the home Dode was always a hard worker. Dode was well known for her hospitality. She was always ready to visit with friends and family over a glass of tea. Her happiest times were spent with her friends and family, and in service to the Lord. Dode enjoyed the simple things in live. She loved butterflies, birds, flowers, and all of the beautiful things in God's creation.
She was a member of the Lost Camp Baptist Church, Where she was very active in all works of the church. Dode loved music and especially loved praises to God. One of Dode's biggest ambitions in life was to be a helper to friends, neighbors, and family. Dode's family was her proudest accomplishment. She shared a deep love with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will be missed very much by all.
