BRONZE STAR MEDAL PURPLE HEART
Mr. Warren "Sarge" Oliver, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010, while at Willow Care Nursing Home in Willow Springs. Born on June 4, 1923, in Willow Springs, to Edd and Sarah Oliver, he was 87 years old.
Sarge grew up in Willow Springs, where he attended the local schools. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a sergeant during World War II. He received numerous medals for his service including the Victory Medal, Purple Heart, American Theater Ribbon, European-African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, Combat Infantry Badge and an Expert Badge with Automatic Rifle Bar. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Willow Springs. He will be missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Sarge is survived by his two sisters, Lucille Seiber of Willow Springs, and Ann Racobs of Iowa. He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral was Monday, Sept. 20, at the First Christian Church. Burial with military honors followed at Howell memorial Park Cemetery in Pomona. Arrangements were under the direction of Willow Funeral Home. (Howell County News, Sept. 15, 2010)
