Don David Bollinger, 77, of Willow Springs, Missouri died on October 13, 2015 at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, Missouri. He was born on November 5, 1937 in Bell City, Missouri, the son of Adam Bennett and Alfreda Rosa (Long) Bollinger.
Don graduated from Fredericktown High School in 1956. He was united in marriage to Glenda Jo Summerfield on January 23, 1982 in West Plains, Missouri. He worked for many years in the insurance industry, owning his own agency in Willow Springs for over 25 years.
He enjoyed golfing, especially with his sons and grandsons, seeing who could try to match his game. He always won! As his health declined, just getting together with his golf buddies to visit and ride around the golf course with them, was an encouragement. He loved to fish, and spent many happy days on the river, floating and fishing with his sons. He enjoyed taking his granddaughters fishing as well. His daughter always made him happy when she brought him oatmeal cookies. He looked forward to the annual Bollinger Thanksgiving dinner that she and her husband hosted.
He loved his children and grandchildren dearly and his advice to them in life was, “Do the right thing.”
He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and sang in the church choir. He had a beautiful tenor voice and was called upon for special music on Sundays, and in Christmas cantatas and funerals.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda, of the home; three sons, Steven Bollinger, Hillsboro, MO, Scott Bollinger and wife, Sherri, Republic, MO, and Jeff Bollinger of Missouri; one daughter, Jane Julius and husband, Nick, Republic, MO; one sister, Ruth Ann Lee and husband, Lloyd, Fredericktown, MO; twelve grandchildren, Adam, Jarred, Erin, Matthew, Josh, Luke, Christina, Keri, Oliver, Hannah, Joey, and Jacob; and eight great grandchildren, Cruz, Yogi, DeLaney, Josey, Stella, Ava, Casen, and Jaxon.
His parents, one son, Tim, one grandson, Christopher, one great granddaughter, Kennedy, and the mother of his children, Adelia Bollinger, precede him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Yarber Mortuary, Willow Springs, MO with Pastor David Cox officiating. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5-7:00 p.m., also at the funeral home. Interment will be in Willow Springs City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Willow Springs Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 484, Willow Springs, MO 65793. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com.
