Parents:
Ferdinand Jahue Brooks (1869 - 1922)
Emma Jane Ketchum Brooks (1877 - 1943)

The death angel visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. F.J. Brooks a few days ago, claiming for his own their son, Rolla, who was aged 22 years and 18 days, having been born May 24, 1900. He professed faith in Jesus Christ in August, 1920, during a revival conducted by the Rev. Hudson. He lived a constant Christian life until the end came. He was president of the Epworth League and did many things to help the League in its work. He was teacher of the Senior Class at the Methodist Sunday School until his illness prevented him from attending further. Rolla was loved by all who knew him and made friends wherever he went. He leaves a mother, father, one sister and two brothers, besides an aged grandmother and many other relatives and friends to mourn his loss. He will be missed in Sunday School and church and at home and among his many friends. He asked the people not to grieve over him, as he was going to God. He asked Brother Mainord to conduct his funeral services and for him to tell the people to trust God and for those who were out of Christ to get right with Jesus, for their time would soon come. He also told Bro. Mainord that his ambition had been to be a minister and to work for the Lord.

- IN MEMORIAM -
In memory of our Epworth League president, Mr. Rolla Brooks, who departed this life June 12, 1922, aged 22 years and 18 days.
Dear Rolla, you are gone but not forgotten.
We miss you in our church.
We miss you in our Sunday School, especially as a teacher of the Seniors' class.
Your smiling face always made others happy.
You always had a pleasant word for everyone.
We miss you in our Epworth League as an officer. Your cheerful ways would always encourage us in our work. If you were there we could always go at our parts cheerfully and gladly, for we had you to back us up and say something pleasant to us. You could always pick up any subject and make a good and interesting talk and always received loud applause for all the work you did. We enjoyed having you in our presence at our League. You made a good president - one whom everyone loved and honored.
Let me say this about Rolla: He bore his suffering patiently and quietly, always looking on the right side of everything and always trusting in the Lord. He believed the Lord would give him rest and stop his suffering, which He did by calling him home to dwell with Him and the angels forevermore. Rolla was due much praise for the cheerful way in which he endured pain and sickness.
He realized that he was going to die and he called his people to his bedside and talked to them, telling them always to do something to please the Lord and some day they would meet Him in a place where there would be no sickness, no death, no heartaches, no sorrow and no parting, but everlasting life with the angels and with Christ, the Lord. He then kissed them goodbye, telling them it would not be long until they would meet him in the skies if they would but stay on the Lord's side.
He also called our Methodist pastor, Rev. Mainord, to his bedside and bade him good-bye, asking him to conduct the funeral service. He also bade goodbye to many other friends and relatives.
Rolla left a father, mother, one sister, two brothers and an aged grandmother, besides other relatives and a host of friends to mourn his loss and live with hopes of greeting him again, but not as they saw him last-a cold lump of clay lying in a casket, but in a spiritual way, clad in bright robes of eternal joy in another and better land.
He is gone to dwell with the angels in that Celestial City, the home prepared for all who love him and keep His commandments.
