Frankie "Frank" Lester Akers, 57, son of Vernon Lester Akers and Beulah Beatrice Young Akers Franklin, was born Nov. 19, 1947, at Colorado Springs, Colo. He died May 30, 2005, at Baxter Regional Medical Center at Mountain Home, Ark.
He attended Raymondville School, graduated from Houston High School and attended Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield.
He married Phyllis Lea Smith Dec. 31, 1982, at West Plains.
Mr. Akers was a food broker and later a salesman for Coca-Cola Bottling Co. For the last five years, he was area manager for Pepsi Mid-America of Marion, Ill.
He was president of the West Plains parks and recreation board for seven years and was on the board of West Plains City Pride.
His hobbies were camping, baseball cards and music.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Surviving are his wife of the home at West Plains; three children, Michael Morgan Akers of Oceanside, Calif., Morgan Nicole Akers of West Plains and Angelina Dawn Akers of the home; his mother of West Plains; one stepbrother, Jim Franklin of Kansas City; and one granddaughter.
Services are 11 o'clock today (Thursday) at the First Baptist Church in West Plains. Burial will be in the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Gideons International or to the family in care of the Robertson-Drago Funeral Home of West Plains.
