Graveside services for Sandra "Nana" Hawes, 53, West Plains, Mo., were held Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hawes died 11:09 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at Ozarks Medical Center. She was born April 1, 1955, in St. Louis, Mo., to Edward and Esther Portenberry Mahon.
On June 21, 1980, she was married at Beaver Crossing, Neb., to Stanley Hawes. Mrs. Hawes lived her life for God and others; her grandchildren were the center of her world.
She is survived by her husband, Stanley Hawes of West Plains; four children, Lisa Means and husband, Michael, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Ronald Hawes of Willow Springs, Mo., Stanley Hawes Jr. and wife, Kelly, of West Plains and Kristen Rodman and husband, Mike, of Pomona, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Jordan Sanders, Journey Sanders, Logan, Peyton Rodman, Justus Sanders, Marcus, Leah Rodman and Devon Hawes; her mother, Ester Mahon of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; three sisters, Emmie Kloss of Bella Vista, Ark., Irene Young of Joplin, Mo., and Rosie Gunter of Mountain View, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
Her father and one brother, Nathan Portenberry, precede her in death.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
