Clarence W. Hughes, 44, well known farmer living near Steele, died Wednesday, November 10, at 11 a.m. at Walls Hospital, Blytheville, after an illness of only a few hours.
Mr. Hughes was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hughes (William R. and Bess Lee Dyer Hughes) of Boaz, Ala., and has been a resident of this community for seven years. Only two weeks ago Mr. Hughes' brother, Medicus I. Hughes, lost his life in a fire which destroyed his home at Sikeston.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 12 at the Steele Baptist church, with the pastor, Rev. H.W. Ellis, conducting the service. Interment, in charge of German Undertaking Co., will be in Mt. Zion cemetery.
The deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ethel Hughes, one son, Robert Earl and two daughters, Mrs. J.D. Fard of Memphis, Tenn. and Carolyn June Hughes of Steele. In addition to the wife and children, he is survived by two brothers and three sisters.
