Graveside services for Doyle A. York, 74, of West Plains, were Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. York died at 10:05 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at his home. He was born June 30, 1936, at Salem, AR, to Kergle Arvis and Lois Ardell Montgomery York. He graduated from the Salem, AR, high school with the Class of 1954 and on July 6, 1957, was married to Jessie Lee Rogers. Before his retirement in 1994, Mr. York was a supervisor at International Shoe Company of West Plains. After retiring from the shoe factory, he worked for Wal-Mart when it opened its doors at its currect location on Preacher Roe Boulevard, as well as being a pat of the maintenance crew for Southwest Missouri State University, West Plains Campus. One of his favorite hobbies was attending auctions which "coincidentally" led him to employment with Gary Sexton setting up actions. Mr. York always looked forward to deer camp in the fall with his boys. His favorite hobby was working in his garden and yard, which he looked forward to every spring. He loved his family more than anything.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie York, of the family home; seven children, Pam Drago, husband, Charles, Brad York, wife Susan, Deanna Kimbrough, husband, Lanny, Shelly Cauldwell, husband, Kirby, Kelly York, wife, Tracy, Jimmy York, wife, Malinda, and Lisa Scott, husband Jim; 11 grandchildren, Emily Drago Gibson, husband, Eric, Trey Cauldwell, wife, Courtney, Robert Drago, Andrew Kimbrough, Maegan York, Katie Kimbrough Johnson, husband, Brett, Sam York, Austin York, Kendall York, Sydney Scott and Taylor Scott; one great-grandchild on the way; three brothers, Doyne York, Kay York and Ron York; two sisters, Irene Sanderson and Veda Morrison; and many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Sue Taylor.
His parents; one grandson, Michael Kimbrough; two sisters and one brother precede him in death.
Memorial contributions may be made to Riverways Hospice of OMC or Cancer Treatment Center of OMC and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. (Howell County News, Oct. 6, 2010)
