PINEVILLE, Mo. — Evelyn Pearl Nichols, 91, of Pineville, Mo., died Sept. 8 at her home. She was born Sept. 26, 1923, in Kansas City, Mo., to Howard Laverne Van Cleave and Ida Mabel Akehurst Van Cleave.

She married Leonard Leroy Nichols March 11, 1945. They raised their family in Raytown, Mo., and Pineville, Mo., then retired to the lake in Golden, Mo.

After Leonard's death in 1997 she moved back to the farm in Pineville to make her home. She was a proud homemaker, loved sewing, cooking from scratch and vegetable gardening. She was saved at 11 years old, and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Washburn were she was the church pianist.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, a son, Jerry Nichols; three brothers, Lee, Jack and Richard Van Cleave. Survivors are three sons, David Nichols and wife Sue of Blue Springs, Mo., Bill Nichols and wife Frances of Pineville, Don Nichols and wife Crissy of Alexander, Ark.; two daughters, Beverly Jones and husband Richard of Blue Springs, Mo., Barbara Clark and husband Michael of Pineville; a daughter-in-law, Peggi Nichols of Oak Grove, Missouri; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside service is set for 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at Simsberry Cemetery on Hwy. E North of Pea Ridge with Pastor Ron Gray officiating. Arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
