Ryan Lee Crewse, a Willow Springs resident, passed away Sunday evening, Oct. 14, 2007, in Springfield as a result of an automobile accident. Born March 3, 1989, in Mansfield, Mo., to Randy and Dana Crewse, he was 18 years old. Ryan grew up in Willow Springs, where he attended school. He was a proud graduate of Willow Springs High School's class of 2007. He was preparing to embark on his career in college before his untimely death. Ryan was described as outgoing, caring, and hardworking. His family further stated that he was "a simple kid who didn't ask for much" – always willing to give and expecting nothing in return. As a result, he was extremely well liked by his peers and adults alike, as evident by the outpouring of love and support by the community at large. Ryan had many enjoyments in life which included playing football, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his friends. However, he especially enjoyed being with his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and all that knew him. Ryan is preceded in death by his brother Austin Grindstaff in 1996. He is survived by his mother, Dana White, and her husband, Billy, of Willow Springs; his sister, Jessica Crewse of Waynesville, Mo.; and his brother, Billy Joe White of Willow Springs. He is further survived by his paternal grandparents Bill and Janice White and maternal grandparents Gary and Marlene Grindstaff, all of Willow Springs. He also leaves behind his aunts and uncles Danny Sprague, Donny and Rhonda Grindstaff, Mike and Mandy Grindstaff, all of Willow Springs, and Mike and Kathy Childress of Kansas. Funeral services for Ryan will be held Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, at 10 a.m. at the First General Baptist Church in Willow Springs with Pastor Scott Williamson officiating. Interment will follow the funeral services at the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery in Pomona. Family night will be held Thursday, Oct. 18, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Willow Funeral Home, located at 106 E. Third Street in Willow Springs. Memorial contributions in Ryan's name may be made at the First National Bank in Willow Springs to help defray funeral costs. Arrangements are under the direction of Willow Funeral Home.
