James Bailey German, farmer, of near Steele, died October 22, 1964, at the Baptist Hospital in Memphis.
Mr. German was born January 29, 1913, in Steele, the son of Edgar and Ida German. He was a member of the Steele Methodist Church.
Services were from the Methodist Church, Steele, conducted by Rev. Charles Miller Saturday, October 24, at 2:30 p.m. Rev. James F. McCrary assisted.
Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, John W. German Funeral Home in charge.
J.B. German leaves his wife, Rubye German; a daughter, Carolyn German; a sister, Mrs. Buetta Hayes of Clear Lake Park, Calif.; a brother, Tommy German of Steele; and an aunt, Mrs. Millie Bailey of Steele.
Active pall bearers were: Beaumont Smith, Howard Smith, Herman Via, Ben W. Burns, Herbert Ketchum, and Cecil Barnes.
Honorary pall bearers were members of the Cemetery Association: Ollie Barnes, Eddie Jarboe, Virgil Hahs, Harbert Hudgens, Jess Wingfield, David Whitfield, J.R. Kinningham, Simms Michie, Clarence McCollum, Gus Cooper and Tom Lewis.

Ruby German, 97, of Collierville, Tenn., formerly of Steele, died Saturday, July 16, 2011, at the Dove Health and Rehabilitation Center of Collierville.
Born May 11, 1914 in Jackson, Tenn., she is the daughter of the late John Parker and Julie Duke Blankenship.
She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Hunter Hilliard, two sisters, Katie Stanfill and Nola Blankenship; and two brothers, Paul Blankenship and Ray Blankenship.
Ruby was united in marriage to J.B. German on Dec. 16, 1936 in Jackson, Tenn.
She was a homemaker and a very faithful member of the Steele First Baptist Church. She liked gardening and loved preserving the fruits of the land.
Mrs. German leaves one daughter, Carolyn Davis and her husband Jerry, of Collierville; One granddaughter, Lisa Hilliard and husband Brad; One grandson, Brad Davis and wife Melissa; Five great-grandchildren: Caleb and Bailey Hilliard and Drew, Tess and Sadie Davis.
Funeral services for Mrs. German were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 20 at the First Baptist Church in Steele with Rev. Michael Funderburk officiating.
Burial was at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge of services.
Pallbearers were Bob Hicks, Brad Davis, Brad Hilliard, Caleb Hilliard, Bill Hilliard and Mike Davis.
