Ruth Lorene McCart, daughter of the late Otho and Ivah Cox Lovan, was born Dec. 27, 1926 in Willow Springs, MO. She departed this life Oct. 26, 2002 at Willow Care Nursing Home in Willow Springs at the age of 75 years 9 months and 29 days.
Ruth was united in marriage to Delbert Lee McCart on Sept. 22, 1942 in West Plains, MO. To this union, 3 children were born. She enjoyed cooking, car rides, music, dancing and picnics. She loved family gatherings. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the General Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Delbert of willow Springs; her son, Rick McCart of Willow Springs; her daughters and sons-in-law: Linda & Tom Cummings and Norma & Dallas Altermatt, all of Willow Springs; 1 brother, Bob Lovan of Willow Springs; 1 sister, Helen Cox of Willow Springs; 9 grandchildren: Debbie Beavers; Scott and John Altermatt; Renea and Eric Bunch; Crystal Duey; John Wayne and Stanley McCart and Brandi Welton; 7 great-grandchildren, 4 step-great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Genise Ann Bunch, a grandson, Dallas Dean Altermatt, a brother, Cecil Lovan, 2 sisters, Opal Mae Lovan and Norma Kessinger and her father and mother.

Mr. Delbert Lee McCart, a resident of Willow Springs, passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2018. Born December 27, 1923 in Texas County to John Calvin and Clara Maude (Hines) McCart, he was 94 years old.
Delbert grew up in the Freedom Community in Texas County, and attended the Faith and Hope Church as a young child. In later years he attended Westside Family Life Center. On September 22, 1942 he married the love of his life, Ruth Lovan in Howell County. He was drafted into the U.S. Army at the age of 18. He proudly served his country for four years from 1942—1946. He was a truck driver and guard and escorted fellow GI’s as well as German POW’s. While serving in the military, he received the American Theatre Ribbon; the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star; the World War II Victory Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. After he was honorably discharged, he went to work for the railroad. He was then employed as the manager of the American Cheese Company in Willow Springs; he also worked at the Willow Springs Receiving Station, and later for Associated Milk Producers, Inc. Delbert was an avid hunter; he also loved to go fishing and gardening. When he was younger, he enjoyed playing baseball, and listening to the games on the radio. He also liked to watch boxing matches on television. He was fondly known as “Pap” to his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and all who knew him.
Delbert is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 60 years, Ruth; two grandsons; one granddaughter, three brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by two daughters; Linda Cummings and her husband, Tom, of Lawson, MO; Norma Altermatt and her husband, Dallas, of Mtn. View, and son, Rick McCart and his wife, Diana of Willow Springs. Further surviving are fourteen grandchildren and ten step-grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A family night/visitation for Mr. McCart will be held on Monday, December 3, 2018 at Willow Funeral Home, LLC from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Westside Family Life Center at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor David Lovan officiating. Interment will follow at the Willow Springs City Cemetery with full military honors. Arrangements are under the direction of Willow Funeral Home, LLC.
