Mrs. Selma Price passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, in the comfort of her Willow Springs home with family and friends present. Born on March 13, 1925, in Pekin, IL, to Ray and Grace (Powell) Smith, she was 84 years old.
Sally grew up in Illinois, where she graduated from high school. She later attended and graduated from cosmetology school and worked for many years as a cosmetologist. On Aug. 2, 1943, she married Earl W. Price in Old Monroe, MO. The couple lived in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and southern California for many years before returning to Missouri and settling in Willow Springs in 1993. Sally was a devoted member of the Presbyterian Church of Willow Springs. She enjoyed painting and crocheting, and would donate the items that she made to the church for many different fund raising activities. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Grace Smith; her husband, Earl W. Price; her daughter Margaret Price; and five brothers and sisters.
Sally is survived by her son, Richard Price of Santa Barbara CA; her grandsons, Timothy McGowan of Hollister, MO, and Michal McGowan, USAF currently stationed in Japan. She is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, June 27, 12009, at the Presbyterian Church of Willow Springs. Burial followed Saturday's service at the Willow Springs City Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Willow Funeral Home. (Howell County News, July 1, 2009)
