Son of Harvey & Lourie (Dryman) Stringer

Betty Lou (Gauldin) Stringer of Willow Springs, peacefully went to her heavenly home on August 12, 2022, at the age of 94. She was born on May 5, 1928, in Jefferson City, MO to Edmund and Lucy (Boulware) Gauldin.
Betty graduated in 1946 in WSHS. She married Roy Lee Stringer on July 2, 1947, in Willow Springs, and they enjoyed 51 years together. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. She really missed going to the First Baptist Church these last few years due to Covid and her declining health. She was affectionally known as “Miss Betty, the lunch lady” at the Willow Springs Middle School for 27 years. She decided to retire early when she turned 90. She loved all of her “kids”, the ladies she worked with, and Son #1 and Son #2. She enjoyed going to coffee after work with the girls. She loved to bake and was well known for her wonderful angel food cakes. She and her best friend and sister, Marguerite, made many, many trips to Branson. First, they went with the grandkids to Silver Dollar City; after the grandkids grew up, the two sisters kept going (a lot) to go to the shows and shop. She enjoyed spending the summers in the Kansas City area with her daughter Pamela’s family and their large group of friends. She was “NeNe” to all of them, especially her “hairy chested pot-bellied boys” and special buddy, Chloe Slimm.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her siblings: Edmund, Robert, Claude, and Marguerite.
Betty leaves behind her daughter, Janet Prater and granddaughter, Rachel of Willow Springs; daughter, Linda Stringer, also of Willow Springs; daughter, Pam Gresham (Jack) of Peculiar, MO; grandson Shea Connelly (Denise) of Raymore, MO, and granddaughter, Lanni Edwards (Josh) of Lee’s Summit, MO. She also had 5 great-grandchildren: Caden and Kaylee Connelly, and Morgan, Avery, and Alexandra Edwards, and many nieces and nephews.
For those who wish to donate in Betty’s memory, they may do so to the Willow Springs Scholarship Club, and they may be left at the funeral home.
A memorial service for Betty will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church in Willow Springs, with Pastor Joel Hinds officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Willow Funeral Home, LLC.
