Mr. Richard Pruitt, Jr., a lifelong resident of Willow Springs, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2010, at Willow Care Nursing Home in Willow Springs. Born on May 27, 1924, to Richard Barney and Genevive (Anderson) Pruitt in rural Texas County. He was 85 years old.
Mr. Pruitt grew up in the Willow Springs area, where he worked as a farmer most of his life. He worked several years at Rawlings in Willow Springs. His mother, Genevive, passed away when he was just five years old. His father later married Edna who quickly became the only mother he ever knew.
On March 27, 1946, in West Plains, MO, he married his sweetheart, Irene Pringle. To this union, six children were born. Mr. Pruitt had many enjoyments in his life such as going to revivals and gospel music, sing-a-longs, camping and traveling in their fifth-wheel trailer. However, his greatest enjoyment came from being around his family and simply working on his farm. It was said by his family that he was a very hard worker and had very high standards for his children and grandchildren. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ivah and Georgia; a son, Gary Dale in 1973; a grandson, Dennis; and a granddaughter, Teresa Jo.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Irene of Willow Springs and his children; Donald Wayne Pruitt and his wife, Virginia; Donna Kay Gossard and her husband, Rob; Richard Thomas Pruitt; David Allen Pruitt; and Helen Louise Davis and her husband, Roy. He further leaves his brothers, Rex, James, Ted and Dean Pruitt and his sisters, Inez Trowbridge, Nancy Chaney, Lorene Thurmond, Sadie Reeves, and Linda White. Eleven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren also survive.
Richard's funeral was on Tuesday, January 12th, at 1 pm at the Willow Funeral Home in Willow
Springs. Burial followed the service in Willow Springs City Cemetery, Willow Springs, MO.

Irene Mae Pringle Pruitt, a long-time resident of Willow Springs, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2016, at Willow Care Nursing Home in Willow Springs. Born on September 17, 1929, to Arthur and Flossie Peters Pringle at the family farm on Tater Hill close to Indian Creek west of Willow Springs. She was 86 years old.
When less than a year old, Irene's family moved to the New Liberty Community near Winona, MO. In 1939, the family moved to their farm on Pine Creek in Texas County near Willow Springs. On March 27, 1946, she married Richard Pruitt, Jr. at West Plains, MO. They started married life on 40 rocky acres and added several more throughout their years together. Six children added enjoyment and entertainment to the long hours spent working the farm.
Irene enjoyed many things during her lifetime. After retirement, Irene and Richard enjoyed traveling and camping throughout the US in their fifth-wheel trailer. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, cooking, visiting/talking, reading books about the Amish, attending church singings, Bluegrassing with her close friend, Helen Hanks and Bible study at Senior Housing. Irene loved people. In her later years, she continued to have busy hands. Irene attended CrossWay Fellowship Church and through their outreach program made numerous prayer quilts which were given to the critically ill across the US. She also made lap robes and wheelchair bags for the nursing home and crocheted hats for school children and fundraisers.
Irene is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 63 years; two sons, Gary Dale Pruitt and David Pruitt; a daughter-in-law, Ginny Siegrest Pruitt; a grandson, Dennis Gossard, and a granddaughter, Teresa Clifton; and three brothers, Jimmy Pringle, Thomas Pringle and Jack Pringle.
Survivors include children: Donald Pruitt, Donna Gossard and her husband, Rob, Richard T. Pruitt and Helen Davis. One sister: Mable Noland. Sisters-in-law: Inez Trowbridge, Nancy Chaney, Trudy Pruitt, Judy Pruitt, Sadie Ann Reeves, Lorene Thurman and Linda White. Grandchildren: Sandi Baker, Sheri Smith, Scott Gossard, Mike Gossard, Mark Gossard, Kenneth Gossard, Richie Pruitt, Amy Glisczinski, Travis Pruitt, Barbie Lafferty and Greg Davis. Great-grandchildren: Alex Baker, Austin Smith, Andrea Braudway, Andrew Smith, Connor Gossard, Mark Gossard, Isabella Gossard, Myria Clifton, Connor Clifton, Kiarra Pruitt, Jack Glisczinski, Norma Glisczinski, Willa Glisczinski, Reid Pruitt, Sabrina Lafferty, Tiffany Lafferty, Dakota Lafferty, Luke Lafferty and Brentley Davis.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Yarber Mortuary, Willow Springs, Missouri, with Pastor’s Dennis Walton and Jeff Conger officiating. Interment is in the Willow Springs City Cemetery, under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Willow Springs, Missouri. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com.
