Clifford Lawrence Barton was born August 7, 1944 in Oregon County to Lawrence and Reva Barton. He departed this life on February 14, 2016 in Tamarac, Florida at the age of 71.
Clifford was a very gifted person. Upon graduating college at the age of 19, he began is teaching career in St. Louis, Missouri. He remained there for 10 years, and during that time, earned a doctorate degree in Public Administration and Exceptional Psychology. Upon completion of his doctorate degree, Clifford moved to Texas, where he continued to teach for another 25 years. In 1995, Clifford was honored by the Texas Council of Administrators of Special Education as the Director of the year. Clifford also worked in former President Clinton's administration in the Department of Education. While there, he conducted many seminars and workshops at Harvard University.
Clifford was preceded in death by his parents, brother Berval, infant brother Melvin, and cherished sister Carol Jean. Clifford is survived by a nephew, five cousins, and a multitude of friends.
It was Clifford's wish to be cremated. Clifford's favorite quote was by tennis player Arthur Ashe. "You make a living by what you get; you make a life by what you give."
Graveside service Friday, Jul 1 at 11 a.m. at Howell Memorial Garden with two of Clifford's cousins, Rev. Jim and Rev. Ken Ford, officiating.
