Knox Winford "Toby" Spencer, age 72, of Nixa, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2010 in the home of his daughter, Alicia. He was born November 15, 1937 in Springfield.
He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1954 until 1962.
On March 11, 1958 he and Barbara Day were united in marriage. Mr. Spencer retired from Nattinger Materials Company in Springfield. During the past few years he visited area Senior Centers, where he met many new friends and danced with his girlfriend, Johnnie Gould.
Survivors include: four children, Angela Nicholson and husband Chuck, Alicia Adams and husband Johnny, Steven Spencer and wife Chela, and Tonja Blount; six grandchildren, Michael Childers, Jessica Garrison and husband Tanner, Jansyn Morgan and husband Jordan, William Blount, Justin Adams, and Tony Spencer; great-grandchild, Carlie Garrison; four sisters, Donna O'Dell, Anna Keller and husband Charles, Joann Smith and husband Jeff, and Carolyn Deeds and husband Everett; a step-sister, Ann Pinon and husband Mike; nieces nephews; and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Barbara, two grandchildren, Cale Gormley and Cody Nicholson; his mother and step-father, Louise and David Brockus, his father and step-mother, Carl and Lynn Spencer; two brothers, Danny Brockus and David Brockus; and a step-sister, Kay Shipman.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 20, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with Rev. Greg Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in McConnell-Bledsoe Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 – 7:00 PM in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
